Dan Hagstrom
After obtaining a B.S. degree from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, and then starting a Masters program in Virology at Arizona State University, Dan decided to pursue a self-employed career and chose real estate sales, mostly because the thought of working in a lab as a career was not too appealing. He moved back to his home state of Montana and obtained his Real Estate license in 1981. He purchased his first rental in 1982 and in the next 3 years purchased 3 duplexes, 3 single-family homes and 4 mobile homes. In 1986 he moved to Denver, sold all but one of his rentals, and began a career in residential mortgage lending. In the early 1990’s he did a 1031 exchange of his last duplex in Montana and purchased a townhouse here in Denver. Over the course of the next 15 years he purchased and sold 3 fix and flips, was a general contractor on a scrape off project wherein an old home was demolished and a new two-story home was built. He also remodeled 2 other homes, and was the general contractor on a “pop-top” in which he currently lives. He also has vacant land in a subdivision near Larkspur, which is under development and he is working on zoning changes with the county. In 1996 he started his own mortgage company, Yellowstone Mortgage, Inc., and has his real estate broker’s license with A Better Way Realty.
